There are two kinds of brake systems in Nissan vehicle. One is a disc brake system, and the other is a drum brake system. Both feature master brake cylinders, pistons, brake hoses, and brake lines. When you press your foot against the brake pedal, the pistons move along the cylinder's bore to pressurize the fluid. The fluid is then sent through the lines and hoses to your wheels.

This is where the difference between the two systems comes in. In a disc brake system, the fluid forces the brake calipers to close brake pads onto the brake rotors, creating the friction that slows your wheels. With a drum brake system, the fluid makes the brake shoes fasten to the braker drums to produce that same resistance.
